Three Baby P killers received legal aid worth £655,000

The killers of Baby P received legal aid worth £655,784 it was revealed today.

The figure is enough to pay for court orders to protect 200 children from potentially dangerous carers.

Peter Connelly's mother Tracey, her boyfriend Steven Barker and his brother, Jason Owen, had their legal fees paid for by the taxpayer when they were arrested, for their trial and appeals.

All three were jailed last year for causing or allowing the 17-month-old's death at his Tottenham home.
