Three in court over Heathrow drug plot

Three men were appearing in court today charged with drugs offences following a police investigation into an alleged £13 million cocaine trafficking plot at Heathrow Airport.

Raymond Harmes, 46, from Stanwell, Middlesex, was charged yesterday with conspiracy to import Class A drugs and three offences of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

Gary Crane, 48, from Upper Halliford, Middlesex, was also charged with conspiracy to import Class A drugs.

Michael Hopkins, 44, from Ashford, Middlesex, faces three counts of supplying Class A drugs and one of handling a stolen wrist watch, Surrey Police said.

All three were appearing before Staines Magistrates Court.

Two other people arrested in the joint police and customs operation have been
released on police bail, police said.
