Top Aussie bank bags Peacock

13 April 2012

LYNNE Peacock, former chief executive of the Woolwich, is expected to join National Australia Bank as business development director in the UK.

The move will reunite Peacock with her former boss, John Stewart, who is chief executive of NAB's European operations.

The appointments of the heavyweight duo signal that the Aussies are serious about growing their UK business, which includes Yorkshire, Clydesdale and Northern Banks.

At the Woolwich, Stewart and Peacock developed the popular Open Plan flexible savings and borrowing product, before it was taken over by Barclays.

Peacock, 49, intended to work in the non-profit sector or start a portfolio career before Stewart lured her back into banking.
