Traders ring the changes

The London Stock Exchange is to search for a new way of ringing in the start of daily trading to distinguish itself from rivals.

Currently it marks the start of trading by activating "floating balls" on a mobile sculpture in the lobby of its headquarters. The sculpture, known as The Source, is to be ditched for something new to match the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

Spokesman John Wallace said: "We are looking at ways to spruce up."
