Trafalgar Square brought to standstill

12 April 2012

More than 200 pro-hunt demonstrators brought central London to a standstill today by parking their horseboxes around Trafalgar Square.

Protesters from the Union of Country Sports Workers blocked roads in and around the square from about 11am. They claim that the Government's proposed ban on blood sports will further undermine jobs in the countryside.

AA Roadwatch said traffic had been brought to a standstill with hundreds of cars and dozens of buses stuck in the congestion. A police spokesman was hopeful the roads would be back to normal before this evening's rush hour.
