Turtle attacks boy in garden

A family returned home from holiday to find a ferocious, snapping turtle in their garden.

Luke Kitchiner, 14, from Wallington, Surrey, thought it was a tortoise and tried to tempt it with lettuce but it attacked him.

His mother, Julia, said: "It nearly chopped his fingers off."

The turtle is believed to have been imported from the US.
