TV chef Gino D'Acampo gets a roasting for restaurant rant

'Churlish': Gino D'Acampo complained on Twitter about Camden restaurant Gilgamesh
12 April 2012

Television chef Gino D'Acampo has been criticised for an online tirade against a popular restaurant.

The Italian, who won I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and famously stripped off on ITV's This Morning, laid into Gilgamesh in Camden. Writing on Twitter, he said the food at the pan-Asian restaurant had been "crap" when he went there on Sunday.

However, the restaurant claims D'Acampo had sworn at staff and stormed out without eating after his request to be seated in a closed-off area was refused. D'Acampo's claims were challenged by a number of celebrities including Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon who defended the restaurant and praised the food.

Carol McGiffin, a presenter on the Loose Women show, said: "It's my favourite restaurant in London so bit upset you slated it...it's fine to say something is crap, but to tell your 200,000 followers is just churlish."
