A touching video showing Kobe Bryant discussing basketball with his 13-year-daughter Gianna has gone viral following their deaths on Sunday.

The clip of the NBA legend and his daughter was taken in December at New York's Barclays Center, where the two were seen laughing and talking about a game between Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks.

Bryant appeared to give Gianna a few pointers as they watched the game unfold while sitting courtside.

The 13-year-old nodded in agreement as her father gave the tactical advice, and they were later seen joking together.

They were among nine people confirmed dead after a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on Sunday evening.

The accident happened while Bryant, 41, was travelling with a group of friends in his private Sikorsky S-76 to a tournament in Thousand Oaks, California.

Bryant, who was known by fans as Black Mamba, was the coach of his daughter's middle school basketball team.

She was said to be a rising star in the sport

During a 2018 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live the basketball legend discussed his daughter's aspirations to play professionally.

He said: "The best thing that happens is when we go out and fans will come up to me and she'll be standing next to me and they'll be like 'You gotta have a boy, you and V gotta have a boy. You gotta have somebody to carry on the tradition and the legacy' and she's like, 'Oi, I got this. You don't need no boy for that.'"
