Watchdog's whistleblower hotline

12 April 2012

WHISTLEBLOWERS too scared to raise the alarm in the office can call a new telephone line set up by the Financial Services Authority. As well as the phone line, manned during office hours, there will also be an e-mail address for complaints.

The FSA would prefer employees who suspect financial wrongdoing to tell their company first. But if they feel unable to raise the concerns, or are frustrated at the lack of action, they can contact the financial watchdog.

FSA managing director Carol Sergeant said: 'We may get valuable information to help us protect consumers, reduce financial crime or maintain market confidence.'

The whistleblowers' number is 0207 676 9200, e-mail address is whistle@fsa.gov.uk. and web site, www.fsa.gov.uk/whistle/.
