Wembley man attempted murder trial starts today

A man goes on trial at the Old Bailey today accused of attacking police officers with a butcher's knife.

Christopher Haughton, 33, is accused of attempted murder and other offences following an incident in Kingsbury, north London, on November 19, last year.

Four police officers were taken to hospital after an incident during which a man grabbed a fillet knife from a shop and was pursued by officers.

Haughton is also charged with assaulting police officers during a disturbance a month before.

Haughton, of Wembley, north London, was charged with three attempted murders, two attempted grievous bodily harm, affray and two assaults.
