Winston Silcott arrested

Winston Silcott has been arrested for alleged shoplifting, it was revealed today.

The man convicted and later cleared of killing Pc Keith Blakelock in the Broadwater Farm riots is alleged to have stolen clothes from a T K Maxx store in Wood Green.

Silcott, 44, was released on bail "pending enquiries". If he is convicted for shoplifting he could face going back to prison for breaching parole.

Silcott was released last year after serving a life sentence for the 1984 murder of boxer Anthony Smith. Silcott's conviction for the Blakelock murder was overturned after doubts over a police interview in which he is said to have confessed his guilt.
