Witchly ways at the Pagan festival

THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL PAGAN FESTIVAL

This two-day celebration of alternative and ancient religion claims to be the biggest such event in Europe, with lectures and workshops on witchcraft and a full programme of folk and rock music, theatre and stage spectaculars.

There's also morris dancing (definitely not the sanitised ribbons-and-bows variety you see at the local fete) and the official opening ceremony is based on sacred Egyptian rituals.

An accompanying craft market offers handpainted glass, clothes, jewellery, tarot cards and readings.

Queen Mary College Mile End Road, E1 (020-8539 3569). Sat 18 Oct, noon-8pm, Sun 19 noon-8pm, £11, two-day ticket £20, under-10s free. www.paganfestivals.com.
