13 April 2012

A 21-year-old woman arrested by officers from a specialist unit which targets organised immigration crime appeared in court today charged with bigamy.

Joanne Shing, a 21-year-old sales assistant of Kingsmead Avenue, Kingsbury, north west London, appeared before Horseferry Road Magistrates' Court.

She was charged with making a false statement at Camden Register Office in April 2002 and of committing bigamy at Hammersmith and Fulham Register Office in December 2003.

Shing pleaded not guilty to the allegations at an earlier hearing.

She is further charged with possessing a class A drug and was originally arrested by Metropolitan Police officers from Operation Maxim.

Shing was released on unconditional bail and will reappear in court on January 20.
