12 April 2012

A woman survived after her car plunged more than 100ft off a cliff, police said today.

The 27-year-old woman was trapped in her Ford Fiesta for 30 minutes after it went over the cliff between Boscombe and Bournemouth Piers in Dorset last night.

She was today in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A Dorset Police spokesman said officers were investigating why the accident had happened.

He added: "The car was completely crushed and the woman was trapped. The vehicle was said to be smoking when fire and ambulance crews got there."
