12 April 2012

A sleeping woman locked up alone on a plane for four hours is suing United Airlines.

Ginger McGuire, 36, fell asleep on a late-night flight from Washington DC to Philadelphia and did not wake up when the plane touched down at 12.27am.

She was woken by airport cleaners but was held aboard the plane until police established she was not a terrorist.

Ms McGuire is suing for false imprisonment, infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

"We are working closely with our partner Trans States Airlines to investigate the cause and remedy the situation with the customer," United Airlines spokeswoman Sarah Massier said.
