Last week's date

John and Holly, a match made in heaven?
Jane Burn|Metro Life5 April 2012

Last week John, 27, a graphic and web designer from Stratford, chose Holly, 29, an advertising accounts director from Camden

Why? I chose her because even her pet hates seemed attractive.

John says: Holly was very attractive and very good company but I felt she was reserved and holding back.

There was a lot of funny banter and I tried to throw a few curveballs in to try and gauge her personality and how she felt, but I didn't think there was a click there. I had a wonderful night out in a nice place but it didn't work out as best it could. Though fate has a weird way of working out - I met someone on the Tube on the way home and took her phone number. If I'd never gone on the date this might never have happened.

Holly says: John was charming and tried to put me at ease from the word go. He was funny and engaging but there was no attraction on my part. As a result I didn't feel comfortable when he tried to steer the conversation in a romantic direction and felt even less comfortable when he whacked out a pack of cards intent on impressing me with some magic. John wasn't my type but had a great sense of humour. He brought me a little gift related to something I'd mentioned on my profile, which was thoughtful. All in all we both went into the date with a good attitude and I had a fun night, but I'd rather just leave it at that.

John and Holly's date was at Rot, 3-5 Mill Street, W1
