Bleurgh.

If there’s one word that aptly epitomises winter, it is bleurgh.

Skin is bleurgh, hair is bleurgh, wardrobes up and down the nation – comprised of a thousand layers which are stripped on and off in an awkward waddle as you hop from inside to outside - are bleurgh.

Perhaps it’s to do with winter’s trademark grey skies, but doing make-up in the morning, painting the canvas of which all stranger’s first impressions will be based, becomes about as simple as climbing Mount Everest in a bikini and a pair of flip flops.

Mascara streams as your eyes struggle to blink in the Baltic breeze; bronzer resembles war paint, which belligerently refuses to blend in to the foundation you’ve used all year which, you’ve finally released, is three shades too dark for your pallid complexion anyway.

It’s all just a little bit, bleurgh.

So we may now rejoice that Charlotte Tilbury, the make-up antithesis of, quite frankly anything bleurgh, has released another of her holy grail palettes.

The Charlotte Darling palette comprises of six Ibiza-inspired shades which, when worn together, do a fine job of resuscitating even the most sleep-deprived eyes.

Whereas usually with palettes there tends to be the odd rogue shade which goes untouched, with the Charlotte Darling, the six shades have been designed to seamlessly complement one and other.

For eyeshadow novices like myself, the packaging states which shade goes where, simplifying the usually arduous and bemusing task of painting one’s lids.

I’ve never had eyelids so sparkly, which is the ultimate repellent to winter and its dreariness.

Et voila! With a sweep of a brush and a sparkly shadow, there’s not a bleurgh in sight.

The Charlotte Darling palette costs £45 and is available to buy now.
