When actress Meghan Markle marries Prince Harry on 19 May 2018 there are many royal traditions the couple are expected to adhere to.

As well as the more well-known customs, such as the Queen giving written permission and the bride wearing white, there are also a few little-known additions.

Did you know, for example, that Meghan and Harry will receive a personalised wedding scent?

Perfumers Floris London have been providing royalty with custom fragrance since the 1920s when they received their first Royal Warrant from King George IV, which still remains today.

Described on its website as "the oldest independent family perfumer in the world and the only Appointed Perfumer to Her Majesty the Queen", the luxury label not only creates the families day-to-day colognes, but also a special scent for each royal wedding.

Fitting in with Meghan and Harry's zesty wedding theme, which already includes a lemon elderflower cake, the couple's bespoke fragrance is thought to be fittingly infused with top notes of mandarin, heart notes of orange blossom and base notes of spice.

According to People, it will be be based on the perfumer's Bergamotto di Positano fragrance, which is described as "a unisex citrus marine eau de parfum that evokes the warmth of a Mediterranean sea breeze, sunshine and clear shimmering water."

Expected to be handmade in the brand's Devon factory, which was opened by Princess Diana in 1989, it is unknown whether Meghan will choose to wear the scent on her wedding day.

It is thought that Queen Elizabeth II sported a floral scent by Floris' on her wedding day in 1820, meanwhile, Kate Middleton chose not to wear the specially created 'Wedding Bouquet' fragrance in 2011, instead opting for a feminine fragrance by Illuminum.

Either way, Meghan and Harry's bespoke scent will not be available to purchase as only a small collection will be kept in Floris' private collection.

You can, however, purchase the Bergamotto Di Positano Eau De Parfum for £120 from Floris's website.
