What’s the buzz? Here are two new treats for your lips courtesy of NARS, brought out to celebrate the 20th birthday of this smart, fashion-forward brand.
Both are rich in colour and pigment-heavy, as you’d expect from NARS, and in beautiful packaging to boot. The Audacious Lipstick glides on easily and gives dense colour in one application - I needed to reapply after two hours. Each lippie is named after a woman who’s influenced Francois Nars’ life; I tested Charlotte, named after eternal saucepot Charlotte Rampling. It’s a vampy, gorgeous dark red (cf this season’s berry shades and Pulp Fiction revival).
I wore Charlotte with a Velvet Lip Liner in Belle Mare - that’s your seductive colour pairing. The lip liner goes on really smoothly too and gives great colour - I also wore it all over my lips as a lipstick which looked great, although I did need some lip balm on top to prevent trying. The Velvet Lip Liner is a push-up liner with a built-in sharpener. Do not do what I did and try to sharpen the liner with a pencil sharpener. I ruined the gorgeous casing. Yes, I am an idiot, albeit an idiot with very nicely coloured lips. The built-in sharpener is quite tricky to use but it’s easy enough just to push up the liner when you need more of it.
