The seventh-floor spa of the Peninsula Hong Kong is an oasis that sits above the hustle and bustle of Tsim Sha Tsui.

Much like the rest of the grand dame hotel, the spa’s design fuses traditional Chinese elements with a contemporary aesthetic. Warm tones of marble, rustic woods and textured granite abound across 14 state-of-the-art treatment rooms, six of which enjoy staggering views out over the harbour.

There are separate relaxation rooms for men and women, both with comfy beds, healthy snacks and amazing views. Men and women also have separate hammam-style steam rooms, saunas and aromatherapy experience shower areas.

There are also six VIP couples’ suites and a sun terrace for lounging and sunbathing.

On the 8th floor, there’s a spacious gym and stunning, Romanesque 18-metre indoor swimming pool (again with the view), which is only open to hotel guests.

FAMOUS FOR

The spa is known for its incredible massages using ESPA oils, a cocktail of which is personally selected for each customer, and in terms of facials, they’re the only place in Hong Kong where you can get a treatment using super luxe Monte Carlo skincare brand Margy’s – in fact it's the only place in Asia.

THE TREATMENT

After a week of late nights and sweaty hikes in Hong Kong’s notoriously polluted air, my face was in need of a little TLC so I opted for the hour-long Margy’s Firming Collagen Facial, 2,700 HKD (£263).

Margy’s is an anti-ageing program and line of products founded 30 years ago by Monte Carlo spa owner Margie Lombard that, for a long time, was only available in Monaco. Margy’s now has a few choice outposts around the world (in London the only place to offer Margy’s facials is the recently shuttered Grace Belgravia), with the spa at the Peninsula Hong Kong the only Asian outpost.

My therapist was excited to hear that I’d never tried the range, and I was excited to see if it would live up to her hype.

Honestly, it couldn’t have been better.

First the therapist applied a highly active face mask containing collagen, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to target my tired and damaged skin. Then she applied serum-soaked algae patches which she dissolved using deep and precise manual massage.

The therapist then massaged Margy’s Extra Rich Firming Mask into my skin to hydrate and visibly reduce fine lines, and rounded things off with a wonderfully relaxing neck and shoulder massage.

VERDICT

I sat up in the bed, glanced out across Victoria Harbour, then looked at myself in the small handheld mirror handed to me by the therapist and barely recognised the reinvigorated, glowing face staring back at me.

So yeah, 10/10.
