Suitcase salon: portable products for bounteous barnet during your summer holiday

Anne sets T3 the challenge of making her locks a bit more exciting
Clever packing: Featherweight Impact hairdryer saves weight and space

The aspiration to “that salon look at home” strikes fear into all of us who’ve tried to recreate Anna Wintour’s bob or Kate Hudson’s carefree tresses, armed with a styling wand that fries your scalp.

T3 may have the answer. At under 400g, the Featherweight Impact hairdryer (£125) saves weight and space, compared with lugging a normal drier.

Kate Winslet and Keira Knightley are fans, so I set the company a summer challenge of making my frankly stringy locks look a bit more bounteous.

The BodyWaver styling wand has three different fittings depending on how tight you fancy your curls

The drier is indeed a lightweight miracle and it was quick and efficient. Runway-ready demands more, though, so we experimented with adding the BodyWaver styling wand (£125), which has three different fittings depending on how tight or loose you fancy your curls. Louise, my instructor, gave me some tips for those of us who want to be our own holiday hairdressers.

Firstly, you need a really good heat-resistant spray — we used Phytodéfrisant Balm, which helps smooth the hair as well as protect it. Part the hair from the parting down the back of the head and pull each side forward in front of the shoulders. The temporary look is very Morticia from the Addams Family but don’t worry.

Starting one side, horizontally part the hair in medium sections from the bottom up. Place the hair in the clasp of the BodyWaver and gently pull to the end. Roll up hair as close to the root as you can safely get. Hold for a few seconds and release.

Backcomb gently and hairspray, then lightly brush through roots to conceal any back-combing and position the hair. Once you have the technique, you can put fine hair up for beach evenings.
