Known for its salt-pans, the remote area of Zablace is slowly growing in tourism, making it the perfect location for Brad Pitt's new project.

After spending the majority of his life in front of a camera, Ocean’s Eleven actor, Brad Pitt is turning his hand to the hotel business with a luxury project in the pipeline on the Adriatic coast in Croatia.

The small town of Zablace, which is around an hour from Split, is the proposed site for the new resort which is expected to include a luxurious hotel, villas, a golf course, shops and restaurants.

The gargantuan project is estimated to cost more than $1.5 billion.

Earlier this month, the Hollywood heavyweight was spotted arriving at Croatia's Zadar airport, before taking a 50-mile boat trip along the Dalmatian Coast to Zablace.

The petite settlement is based a mere half an hour from the town of Tisno - home to the annual Love International Festival.

Pitt has previously described the country as "the most beautiful" he has ever visited. And with long hot summers, bundles of history, undiscovered towns and crystal clear waters, it's not hard to agree with the 52-year-old actor.

The Eastern European country was branded by Pitt as “the most beautiful country he ever visited”. With long hot summers, bundles of history and picturesque transparent waters, Croatia’s small towns are largely undiscovered gems within Europe.

This isn't Pitt's first business venture outside the acting industry - he and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie bought the award-winning Château Miraval for around 40 million euros in 2008. Since then the brand has been commended by wine critics and when first produced 1,000 cases sold-out within hours.
Other celebrities who have invested in hotels include Robert De Niro, who is the force behind The Wellington Hotel in Covent Garden; and tennis sensation Andy Murray, who bought a hotel in Scotland called The Cromlix back in 2014.
