Singer Celine Dion has well and truly reinvented herself as everybody’s favourite haute couture queen, establishing herself as one of the bravest style icons on the scene today. Whether she’s shutting down the 2019 Met Gala pink carpet in a dandelion headdress or weeping in the front row at Valentino’s Haute Couture presentation, nobody loves fashion more than Celine Dion. Especially when it comes to her shoe collection.

Dion revealed during a carpool karaoke segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden that she had “maybe” ten thousand pairs of shoes, which she keeps in a warehouse in Vegas. The singer, who has a home in Florida, also revealed that her shoe closet there was a Clueless fantasy come to life as she actually has a computerised system to help her locate her favourite Manolo Blahniks.

Dion said, “You know what? In my house in Florida, I had a system where it was computerised and I would press [a button]. And there would be these doors that opened, and they were all [sorted] by colours.”

“So I would press another button and they would turn [and revolve on shelves] in front of me."

"There was a whole system...and I could press stop and get the shoes I wanted,” she continued.

Dion is a woman who doesn’t do things by halves, however, as her futuristic shoe cupboard also featured a few sparkling details. She continued, “In front, there was like a counter to put [the shoes down] and the counter was built up about [five inches thick] of glass. And it was all broken diamonds.”

She later clarified they were “not real” diamonds, as she didn’t want people to think she was “loco”.

After her Met Gala outfit became a hit with both keen eyed fashion fans and meme-loving Twitter users, it was revealed that her Oscar de la Renta outfit was inspired by the Judy Garland film Ziegfeld Girl.

Despite the fact that the headpiece weighed 22 pounds according to Vogue, Dion was committed to the look and said, “Everybody who was part of it put their hearts into it. It was to make it something magical. I don’t want to take it off! I want to go to bed in it tonight.

Paris Couture Week was also Dion’s playground this year, continuing her renaissance as our favourite 50-something style queen.

However, all the renewed attention hasn’t all been positive. In a podcast interview with Dan Wootton, Dion spoke about the detractors of her new fashion-forward wardrobe.

“I’m doing this for me. I want to feel strong - I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine, fierce and sexy...You don’t have to always be the same and you cannot please everyone all the time,” she said.

She continued, “Sometimes people will say, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa. That was maybe a little much.’ People won’t like everything, but if I like [it] - I don’t wanna talk about it. They can just cross it. Don’t bother. Don’t take a picture…If you like [it], I’ll be there. If you don’t, leave me alone.”

One of Dion's most striking looks at Paris Haute Couture was an Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture jumpsuit (above), accessorised with a netted hat and glittering sunglasses.

She also swept through the streets of Paris in the dreamiest Oscar De La Renta tulle coat, belted with a black velvet bow.

The 'My Heart Will Go On' songstress proves her style will prevail, as she's been named the reigning queen of couture during Paris Fashion Week for her inventive looks, ranging from a white bodysuit to a leather bucket hat.

Celine acknowledged that her style has shifted slightly, but said, “[Fashion has] always been a part of me, but the way that we used to work before was maybe more conservative... At 50 years old, it’s not to try to take the chances. It’s what I want to wear. I want to wear whatever I want, I wanna do whatever I choose to be."
