Is a reconciliation on the way for Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich? Well, probably not.

The couple, who began dating in March, 2020, spent the pandemic in quarantine together, and announced their engagement in July. But on September 24, People reported that they had officially called it quits.

“It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers,” a source told People. “They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together.”

But Ehrich has since claimed that he found out about the breakup through “a tabloid,” sharing the news with his 1.6 million Instagram followers. And it just gets more bizarre from there.

On September 27, Ehrich, who is currently filming a biopic in Atlanta, Georgia, posted a series of since-deleted Instagram Stories that started about his relationship with Lovato and ended with a call to #FreeBritney (we are just as confused as you).

“We haven’t spoken over the phone...we haven’t even officially ended anything to each other,” Ehrich wrote, according to the DailyMail. “Literally,” he added, emphasizing his point.

“I’m here in real time with y’all. I love Demetria and just want her to be healthy and safe,” Ehrich continued. The 29-year-old also posted (and deleted) several of Lovato’s songs to his Instagram Stories calling her “THEE best female vocalist alive.”

And solidifying all thoughts that Lovato should perhaps consider seeking a restraining order, Ehrich posted Lovato’s song ‘Catch Me,’ writing, “I know it’s not her writing these stories. It’s a machine. I love her unconditionally. Demetria...I love you always and forever.”

Rather inexplicably, Ehrich then added, “...Also, #FreeBritney,” seemingly throwing his support behind singer Britney Spears.

Lovato hasn't responded to any of Ehrich's posts on social media, but she did erase all signs of their relationship from her Instagram, which is a pretty clear statement of its own.
