Brad Pitt made light of relationship rumours in his Golden Globes acceptance speech on Sunday night.

Taking to the stage after winning Best Supporting Actor for his role in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Pitt thanked his "partner in crime LDC" (Leonardo DiCaprio) and added more fuel to the old Titanic debate by saying he "would've shared the raft" with the actor.

He then went on to thank his parents. “I wanna say hi to my folks, because hey! They’re back in the Ozarks,” Pitt said. “I wanted to bring my mom, but I couldn’t because any woman I stand next to, they say I’m dating. It would just be awkward."

Pitt's ex wife Jennifer Aniston, who the actor was previously married to for 5 years before their divorce and Pitt's subsequent relationship with Angelina Jolie, was in the audience watching the speech. When Pitt made his dating joke Aniston was spotted giving a knowing smirk.

The actress was seated close to her The Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon and the two also appeared to exchange a joke.

Aniston and Pitt, who divorced in 2005, remain good friends. In February, Pitt was spotted attending Aniston's 50th birthday celebrations.

Beside's Pitt's Best Supporting Actor win, the 77th Golden Globes was a triumphant night for Brits, as Taron Egerton, Sir Elton John and Olivia Colman all collected awards for their work.
