On Sunday actress and entrepreneur Jessica Alba was the subject of a vicious Twitter hack. Fans were shocked to see several hateful tweets on the page belonging to the 38-year-old actress in the early hours of Sunday.

Many replied to the posts in protest and her name was trending online for several hours before the posts were removed.

The delay in taking the tweets down prompted many to believe that Alba was unaware of the hack.

The Fantastic Four star has made no mention of the hack online or through representatives.

It is believed to be the first time the actress has been subjected to an online attack.

The mother of three recently spoke candidly about feeling “preyed upon” by men in her industry when she was starting out.

She said at Goop’s health summit in May: “I was meant to feel ashamed if I tempted men. Then I stopped eating a lot when I became an actress. I made myself look more like a boy so I wouldn’t get as much attention.

“Nothing about being successful in this business is easy … You can’t be bitter.”

The offensive tweets on Jessica Alba's account have since been deleted.
