Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer says murdering her co-stars is dead fun

Comer said she never knows what to expect when shooting death scenes

Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer said filming the scenes in which her character carries out murders are “the best days on set”.

Comer, 26, won the leading actress prize at the Bafta TV awards on Sunday for her portrayal of ruthless assassin Villanelle, and last night she attended the red-carpet launch of the second season of the BBC hit at Curzon Soho.

Comer told the audience: “The murders are the best days on set purely because most of the time they’re outrageous and nothing is ever quite what you think.

“There is one particular moment towards the end of the series that is epic. It was shot over two days, which was really physical and quite draining, but other than that it’s just so much fun.”

Sandra Oh returns as the title character Eve Polastri in the second series. It starts 30 seconds after the close of the first, which culminated in Eve stabbing Villanelle.

Producer Sally Woodward Gentle said the writers consulted an expert in psychopaths to determine how Villanelle would react to being stabbed.

She said: “It could just raise a fury and a sense of revenge or it could confirm there’s this great intimacy between them. I think we play off both of those.”
