The former boy-banders appear to have little in common these days

Liam Payne has described himself as the 'antichrist' of Harry Styles , adding that he wouldn't know what to say to his old bandmate, other than "hello."

The musician has been largely out of the limelight for the last few years but is now back with a debut album, LP1.

After One Direction went on an indefinite hiatus about four years ago, the former members ventured out on their own. Of course, Harry Styles is currently the most famous (and wealthy) of the group, killing it on the red carpet in head-to-toe Gucci and releasing music to critical acclaim.

Now, directly after Payne released his debut, Styles is slated to drop his sophomore album, Fine Line, in just a few days (so prepare accordingly with a Gucci scarf and extra-high waisted trousers).

But Payne revealed the pair have little in common other than new albums as he discussed his time with the band in a new interview with The Face Magazine.

Payne was asked which former bandmate he'd like to go on a walk down the Old Kent Road with. He answered "Harry" because he says he knows where he stands with the rest of the group but doesn't spend much time with the Gucci muse these days.

"With Harry, there’s so much mystery around who he’s kind of become. I was actually genuinely looking at some pictures of him the other day, and I just thought, 'I don’t know what more I’d say to him other than, ‘Hello’ and ‘How are you?’. I mean, look at the stuff I put out, and the stuff Harry puts out. Polar opposite. I’m like the antichrist version of what Harry is."

It's entirely possible he meant antithesis and not antichrist but it doesn't look like the two former colleagues are as close as they were when they were touring.

Despite the fact that they no longer spend time together, he's still impressed with the 'Watermelon Sugar' singer's antichrist aesthetic these days.

"It’s a case of fair play to him for doing what he f***ing wants. If he wants to wear one earring and go to the Met Gala wearing something unexpected, what of it?" although he does add, "I couldn’t put myself in that...It’d look weird

He also talked about his raunchy singles, calling himself an "English Magic Mike" - perhaps he can star in Channing Tatum's live version of the movie next as it is playing in London.

"Every single song we’d get sent would be sexual. And I was Mr. Vanilla in the band! Mr. Boring, I think I got called," he said about his evolution from Mr. Vanilla to Magic Mike.
