Missy Elliott is back and better than ever - from her Lizzo collaboration to her ‘Throw It Back’ music video, the 48-year-old rapper consistently proves that she’s a music and fashion icon. The 'Work It' singer is famous for her colorful tracksuits, epic music video ensembles and love for metallic accents.

She’s being awarded with the VMA Video Vanguard Award and it’s much-deserved based on her memorable music videos over the years. “So many VMAs that I could live on the moon,” she raps fittingly in her new single, ‘Throw It Back.’

Who can forget her silver and black space suit in ‘She’s a B**ch’ or her unforgettable black garbage bag ensemble in ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)'?

“The outfit was a way to mask my shyness behind all the chaos of the look. Although I am shy, I was never afraid to be a provocative woman. The outfit was a symbol of power. I loved the idea of feeling like a hip-hop Michelin woman. I knew I could have on a blow-up suit and still have people talking. It was bold and different. I've always seen myself as an innovator and a creative unlike any other,” Elliott told Elle about the trash bag spacesuit.

'WTF (Where They From)' has an equally impressive mirror ball look, as well as a pop art inspired sweatsuit, complete with matching makeup that looks just like a Roy Lichtenstein painting. If you don't know what to be for Halloween, let all of Elliott's music video looks inspire you forever.

In the ‘Throw It Back,’ music video, she wears a blue and green head-to-toe custom MCM x Misa Hylton look. In the video, she also wears a fringed jacket with her face all over it, a powder pink suit and has a mint green moment.

But she’s not just stylish in videos - her looks are equally groundbreaking on the red carpet.

For her VMA performance, she brought back her Michelin woman suit in style, having her dancers all rock their own versions of the iconic outfit. She performed in a black and yellow sweatsuit, showing off her signature style.

"I have worked diligently for over two decades," Elliott told the supportive MTV crowd after receiving her Moon Man from super fan Cardi B.
