When Elton throws a party, darling, it’s pretty goddamn fabulous — and the Argento Ball, celebrating 25 years of the Elton John Aids Foundation, was no exception: Nicole Scherzinger all asparkle in Bulgari diamonds, Elizabeth Hurley and Russell Tovey tucking into lobster croquettes and Ed Sheeran ending up sitting in Elton’s lap when he wasn’t still standing.

The art? It was more On the Wall, as devotees of the King of Pop moonwalked on over to the National Portrait Gallery’s Michael Jackson private view, with Jonathan Yeo pulling a biblical pose in front of one portrait while Mark Ronson DJed and Sabrina Percy and pals trotted after the sequin-gloved waiters serving pisco-pimped Smooth Criminal cocktails.
