Ear ear

Introducing the lobe hook: earrings that wrap from the top of the lobes to the bottom, usually secured by a stud in the middle, as seen at cool-girl brands Faris and Completedworks. Plenty of rock ’n’ roll, no painful piercings required.

Ring the changes

Twenty-nine-year-old Oxford graduate Laura Lambert is the brains behind Fenton & Co, an online-only bespoke ring specialist. The premise is simple: choose from five heirloom-style designs. Next, pick the stone (there’s ruby, garnet, sapphire and more), cut and metal, and voila! Your piece is made to order and shipped to you in four to six weeks.

Charming

If you thought that jewellery charms equal cheese, think again. These days, chains laden with diamond letters and zodiac coins are all the rage among Gwyneth et al. For further proof, look to Louis Vuitton’s B Blossom range looped with pink opal pendants, designed by the brand’s new jewellery honcho, Francesca Amfitheatrof.

Move it, move it

The 18-carat yellow and rose gold rings and bracelets in Cartier’s Clash collection have been designed to subtly move. The result? Intriguingly flexible jewellery that avoids that too-tight feeling.

Time’s up

Chanel’s sleek J12 watch has clocked (sorry) 20 years since it was first designed. To celebrate, it’s been spruced up with a 12.1 calibre movement, which you can admire through a clear sapphire crystal back.

Name to know

If striking designs are your jam, add Shoreditch-based jeweller Fernando Jorge to your address book. The CSM grad’s pieces are made of unusual stones sourced in his native Brazil, such as nephrite jade and chalcedony, and have been worn by Michelle Obama and Saoirse Ronan. Check them out at his appointment-only studio. 4 Garden Walk, EC2 (020 7729 0126)

Hot haute

Giorgio Armani has made its debut into the world of haute joaillerie — that’s couture jewellery — with this opulent Privé collection inspired by art deco. Expect the very best in rubies, sapphires and brilliant cut diamonds, set in white-gold geometric designs.

Diamonds are forever

Seeking some serious ice? Beyoncé and Lupita Nyong’o get their red carpet sparklers from Parisian jewellery house Messika. Its latest collection — inspired by California’s deserts — includes this showstopping cuff, comprised of 504 diamonds.

Girl meets pearl

The trend for pearl jewellery is moving at a glacial pace, and we are all aboard.
