Denim will never be out of fashion. But getting the style exactly right is the key to sartorial success. And admittedly, it's an ever-changing beast.

This season deep indigo denim in sharp, office-appropriate styles has dominated the runways.

Bid adieu to the pale flares and nineties "mom" jeans lurking in your wardrobe.

No more fraying, distressing or ripped knees (hallelujah), this season it's all about dark washes, top stitching and tailored cuts.

Tom Ford, Calvin Klein, Tibi and Nina Ricci all sent super dark, super chic denim sashaying their runways. This season's denim is a modern iteration of the styles so loved in the Noughties. This time around, however, it's more confident, better quality and totally refined.

Both Tom Ford and Tibi showed blazers with white topstitching that gave a distinctly modern, boardroom-ready twist.

Those feeling brave should opt for a double (hell, triple!) denim look, a la Nina Ricci.

For the rest of us mere mortals, a crisp indigo denim shirt done up to the collar is an excellent, off-beat replacement for your usual white blouse.

Far from being restricted to the jean jackets and flares of the '90s, this season dark denim is set to permeate your entire wardrobe.

Whether it's shoes, trousers, skirts or shirts, just remember: stick to clean lines, exaggerated silhouettes and interesting details. Zip-up shirts and jackets, oversized collars and utilitarian jumpsuits all very much encouraged.
