There's no such thing as a quiet week in fashion. Emma McCarthy has the outlook for the days ahead

Monday

Bags of love

As well as celebrating the start of the red wine, jacket potato and fallen leaves season, October 1 also marks the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And, reassuringly, Tommy Hilfiger offers us proof that not all shows of support for this great cause have to come in shades of bubblegum pink. This deliciously simple navy leather tote goes on sale today and a whopping £100 from each bag sold will be donated to the Breast Health International Fund for Living, which raises funds to help those currently going through treatment. And, best of all, you won’t look like Barbie when you pair it with your pink ribbon. (£255, tommy.com)

TUESDAY

God Save McQueen

On the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week, London royalty descends on the French capital as Alexander McQueen dominates the schedule as the finale show. Last season, creative director Sarah Burton took weird and wonderful happenings on the forest floor as inspiration — see fungi-shaped frocks for reference. Only time — and Twitter — will tell what Team McQueen has in store for its adoring public this season.

WEDNESDAY

A tale of two sample sales

The Village Bicycle Boutique is heading off from its Notting Hill homestead and taking a road trip across the capital. Its mission? Designer discounts by the bucketload. The West vs East sample sale will be heading to W1’s Eastcastle Street for two days from today, before taking to Brick Lane’s Truman Brewery for the weekend. Westerners can bank on Roberto Cavalli and Sass & Bide, while Eastenders can make a beeline for House of Holland and Christopher Kane — all up to 80 per cent off. (iamvillagebicycle.com)

THURSDAY

Here’s Anna

Cue the compulsory 6am queues — Anna Dello Russo’s much-anticipated accessories line for H&M lands in-store today. On a one-woman mission to make the world a much brighter place, Vogue Japan’s editor-at-large has thrown in as much glitz, glamour and sparkle as one collection can handle. Expect to be trampled for gleaming green crocodile bangles, gilded metal clutches cast with giant turquoise gems and skyscraper stilettos sprinkled with diamanté. October is definitely no time for wallflowers. (hm.com)

FRIDAY

No smoke without fire

Clearly the week for fashionable collaborations — another head honcho launches her trademark wares onto the high street today. When Carine Roitfeld (pictured) isn’t hiding behind a gigantic pair of shades, her impeccably smoky eye is ever-present. But while the former Vogue Paris editor has spent years perfecting her sultry shadow, the beauty buffs at MAC have managed to encapsulate the look in just a few easy steps. With Full Face Kits in chic neutral shades and lashings of jet-black kohl liner, it’ll be as easy as Madame Roitfeld makes it look. (From £10, maccosmetics.co.uk)
