Fashion forecast

There’s no such thing as a quiet week in fashion. Emma McCarthy has the outlook for the days ahead

MONDAY

Face Forward

Frankly, the next season’s shows are a bit of a tease. Love an item on the catwalk? Well, you’ll have six months to wait. But MAC has come up with a simple but ingenious solution for realising our premature pipe dreams by launching its S/S 13 products now. Landing in-store today, these Forecast Lip and Eye palettes were used backstage at shows such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Sass & Bide. Of course, you will still have to wait for the clothes. TUESDAY

Showgirls

Sue Kreitzman’s Dare to Wear exhibition is one way to brighten up a gloomy Tuesday. Opening tomorrow at St Pancras Church Crypt, her aim is to celebrate everything OTT. Taking centre stage — which, believe me, is no mean feat — Tatty Devine has created the ultimate statement necklace, featuring three famously extravagant women — Carmen Miranda, Josephine Baker and Frida Kahlo — and decorated with everything but the kitchen sink. As Kreitzman says: “Why leave art to languish on the walls?” (£450, tattydevine.com)

WEDNESDAY

Not just for anoraks

Little-known fact: Henri Lloyd was the first to create completely leak-free rainwear with the use of Velcro fastenings. But while the British Heritage sailing brand is adept at providing sturdy gear for salty sea dogs, it’s never achieved quite the same appeal to us rain-lashed urbanites. However, this season it’s offering style as well as practicality, with a new range of caped trenches, cosy quilted jackets and waterproofs in Crayola bright shades. (£275, henrilloyd.com)

THURSDAY

Strike a pose

Is it possible to wear a London icon on your T-shirt without looking like a tourist? The new capsule collection from ONETSHIRT, illustrated by former Vanity Fair style director Michael Roberts, features portraits of the fashion industry’s most legendary faces, from Anna Wintour to Anna Piaggi. We think Browns’ very own fashion matriarch Mrs B — aka Mrs Burnstein — is a much more stylish option than a double-decker bus. (£75 from Browns Focus; 0207 514 0063)

FRIDAY

Streetwise

What does the future hold for street art? Well, according to art collective Urban Innovators, it lies in Graffuturism. As a sort of post-modern take on spray paint, the very first Graffuturism exhibition is coming to the capital for just three days from Friday at the über-trendy Après London. A mix of artists at the forefront of the new movement will be creating live pieces, including Bristol-based Kone, Chelsea College of Art graduate Codefc and New Yorker Ellannah Sadkin (pictured). I recommend you go and see it. Just don’t ask me to explain it. (31 Duke Street, W1; apres-london.com)
