When you're a designer trying to get noticed on the final day of London Fashion Week, it helps to have friends in the right places.

It's certainly worked for Ashley Williams who rounded up five days of fashion festivities with a showcase that enticed pals Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof to the front row.

Williams, a University of Westminster graduate and a fully fledged member of Pixie's party crew, had support on the catwalk too.

Taking a break from her regular gigs at Chanel and Vivienne Westwood, Georgia May Jagger was among the models to walk in the emerging designer's show. She was joined by designer Claire Barrow, another long time friend of Williams, who also modelled the collection.

Williams decision to enlist the help of another young woman in business was no accident but a means through which she could celebrate the thought process at the heart of this collection.

Drawing parallels with her own rise through the ranks of British fashion, Williams cited empowerment of a young woman as she attempts to find her footing on the career ladder as her inspiration and accordingly, introduced tailoring into her repertoire.

But these were not suits designed with a stuffy boardroom in mind. This was a breed of power dressing that fused an androgynous aesthetic with a generous helping of overt sexuality.

Brown suiting was brought up to date with the addition of oversized jackets, tailored mini skirts and cross-body bondage straps.

Other symbols of independence and rebellion - including pierced ear and tazer gun motifs - were also splashed across blouses and shift dresses.

"It's about having the guts and confidence to wear clothes that transform you into who you are," said Williams.

But the Ashley Williams girl isn't all work and no play. A series of fluoro leather cocktail dresses which came cinched in at the waist and finished with diamanté chokers also brought an element of fun to the party.
