Gigi Hadid has long been a muse of Donatella Versace's, but this season the modern-day supermodel has stepped behind the camera to photograph boyfriend Zayn Malik in the spring/summer campaign for the brand's diffusion line Versus Versace.

Shot during one evening in a suite at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles and captured on nothing more than an iPhone and digital camera, Malik is joined in a number of the images by model Adwoa Aboah.

Malik's role in the campaign should come as no surprise to Versace fans, after a relationship was established when it was announced last October that he would be collaborating with the designer on a capsule collection for Versus.

Speaking of the campaign, Malik said: "It was sick to work with Versus. Dontella is a G."

"It was extra special that Gigi shot the campaign."

"Looking forward to following up with my Versus collection that drops in June."

Wearing the brand's spring/summer collection, the pieces are set to drop just before the Zayn X Versus line which will be revealed in June and available to buy immediately after.

"They are young people who define the mood of their generation with their honesty, energy and their love."
