Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have been revealed as the cover stars of US Vogue's August issue.

Cuddling up for the issue, the couple star in a series of shots taken for the magazine before Hadid is joined by her brother Anwar.

Announcing the news on her Instagram account, Hadid wrote: "It will forever be a great honor to cover @voguemagazine .. but I felt extra grateful and proud to stand beside my @zayn !!"

"@inezandvinoodh we are always humbled to be in front of your lens, and we beyond thank you, Anna, @tonnegood and everyone who made this a reality for us! A dream."

It is an unusual move by Vogue, to star a power couple on its cover, but not entirely unprecedented.

In 2014 the magazine sparked controversy when it enlisted Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to take to the cover, a move both loved and criticised in equal measures by the fashion pack.

A busy year for the couple, Malik has just launched his debut collaborative collection with Versus Versace while Hadid continues to star in countless campaigns and on endless runways.

Speaking exclusively to the Standard about his new collection, Malik admitted: "I’d wanted to do something in fashion for a while, even if it was just to bring out a couple of T-shirts so we just thought, 'why not do it with somebody that’s got experience and knows what they’re doing?' You can’t f*** with Versace."

Revealing that Hadid - who has herself collaborated on two high end fashion collections with the likes of Tommy Hilfiger - helped him during the design process, Malik admitted: "She’s very good, and she definitely assisted me."

As has become customary for Vogue, once the cover was revealed so too was a video of Hadid answering 73 questions posed by the magazine.

Revealing that her real name is Jelena and the most romantic thing Zayn has ever done for her - "a couple of years ago on Valentine's day we went on a boat trip, it was really nice" - the modern day supermodel also spoke of the biggest moment in her career so far, Taylor Swift and her signature dish.
