Victoria Beckham has spoken of the “juggling act” of balancing motherhood and her career - but admitted that she could not do it without the help of a nanny.

The fashion designer and mother-of-four said she gets up early to help the children with spelling tests and times tables and claimed it is “no different” for her than any other working mother.

But Beckham, 39, said she could not do it alone, saying she has help looking after sons Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 10, Cruz, eight, and one-year-old daughter Harper.

She said she was enjoying life in London since moving back from Los Angeles where her husband David, 37, played for LA Galaxy adding that she has found it “inspiring” even though the footballer spends a lot of time in France playing for Paris St-Germain.

Speaking at the Vogue Festival on Southbank, she said: “I don’t know how I do it. It is a juggling act. It’s no different for me than any other mum.

“I get up very early and go through spelling tests and times tables tests with the kids like any working mum.

“But I am also up late because I have a baby and a 14-year-old who refuses to go to bed. So I don’t get as much sleep as I would maybe like.”

She added: “But I have great people who handle my schedule. If there’s a parents’ night or Easter bonnet parade or nativity parade I plan around that so I can be heavily involved.

“But it’s difficult juggling working, having the children, having a husband who travels. I do have a bit of help, I have a nanny, I can’t do it all myself.

“I really enjoy being a mum. But I also love what I do. I think anyone who say’s it’s easy is lying.”
