Jaden Smith reveals why he doesn’t see a distinction between male and female clothing after starring in Louis Vuitton womenswear campaign

When it comes to womenswear and menswear, the latter has seen enormous growth in popularity – and in turn commerciality – over the last few years.

With the introduction of a London Fashion Week dedicated entirely to male clothing in the form of London Collections: Men, the showcase has seen an increase in both designers on the schedule and general public interest since its launch in summer 2012.

But one person who doesn’t like to see such a gender divide when it comes to clothing is actor – and star of Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2016 womenswear campaign – Jaden Smith.

Speaking to GQ Style magazine, the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith said: "I feel like people are kind of confused about gender norms."

"I feel like people don’t really get it. I’m not saying that I get it, I’m just saying that I’ve never seen any distinction.”

“I don’t see man clothes and woman clothes, I just see scared people and comfortable people."

Comfortable around the fashion elite, Smith is regularly seen with in-demand model Kendall Jenner as he is a friend of the Kardashian family.

Regarding his connection with the famous brood, Smith said: "I think I’m just a really big influence on anybody that I’m around, and I feel like that’s why it’s good for me to hang out with all types of different people."

His sister, Willow, is no stranger to the world of fashion either. After making her – surprisingly dramatic – entrance at the Chanel runway show in Paris last week, the star was revealed as the brand’s newest ambassador.

Speaking of his bond with Willow, Jaden said: "I’d say it’s like full-on sibling brain connection.”

“I’d say that she’s definitely the female version of me, one hundred per cent, in every single way. And I’d say I’m the male version of her.”
