Martha Hunt wore jeans beneath her slip dress for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show viewing party

The layering look is one of the year's most conflicting trends

Although the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was filmed in Shanghai last week, the show only hit screens in America last night.

To celebrate, several of the show's most famous faces including Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel and Stella Maxwell stepped out in New York last night in order to watch the catwalk come to life at the annual viewing party.

As expected, the Angels were all dressed to impress in a number of eye-popping looks featuring racy thigh-slits and sheer fabrics.

However, it was Martha Hunt's risqué outfit that stood out for another reason.

The 28-year-old donned a sparkly metallic mesh dress, which in true VS fashion featured dramatic slits up the sides.

However, the model paired the glamorous look with a casual pair of white mom jeans underneath - a bold choice, but Martha pulled it off.

The look, chosen by her stylist Danielle Nachmani is in fact bang on trend this season with dresses over trousers having featured on a number of catwalks including, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Simone Rocha.

The model - who has been a Victoria's Secret Angel since 2015 and walked since 2013 - isn't the first celebrity to test out the latest layering trend.

Emma Watson wore trousers beneath her beautiful Calvin Klein ballgown to the 2016 Met Gala.

Kendall Jenner, Solange Knowles and Lorde have also proved they can pull off the style like a pro.
