Thanks to the super-groomed styling of the Mad Men belles, matching your shoes to your handbag is, again, decidedly chic. But it seems the capital’s most style-conscious characters have endeavoured to take this trend for matchy-matchy fashion one step further.

The latest development in the top-to-toe styling arena is teaming your nails to your outfit - and we don’t just mean in terms of colour.

Sophy Robson, the nail expert behind some of London Fashion Week’s biggest shows, launched her latest collection last week at Hari’s (harissalon.com), which features carbon copies of some of the most iconic looks and prints from the spring/summer 12 catwalks. Robson’s own Shattered nail takes inspiration from Roberto Cavalli’s colourful and heavily embellished collection, while the Art Deco is perfectly matched to Gucci’s Twenties flapper dresses, and Henry Holland’s punk pastel animal print also manifests itself in varnish form.

The designs, which are artfully painted onto the wearer’s tips, also include a bold lip print - a key archive style for fashion houses including Diane von Furstenberg and Marc Jacobs - as well as a monochrome design from Boy by Band of Outsiders, a label recently championed by Rihanna, who donned a head-to-toe look while performing on Jonathan Ross.

Some of London’s other super-talon talents are also championing the trend. Sharmadean Reid’s WAH nail collection also complements this season’s catwalks. The classic Strawberry and Tutti Frutti designs relate to the fruit prints seen at Moschino Cheap & Chic, while the intricate pink and yellow roses channel Ashish’s bold sequined mini dresses.

So when it comes to nails this seaon, it really is time to match your mani to your Moschino.
