The men's version of London Fashion Week is set to be the biggest in its history with a record number of designers showing off their collections, organisers revealed today.

London Collections: Men, which starts on June 12, has 77 designers on the schedule — seven more than in January and a 67 per cent increase since the inaugural showcase in 2012.

Global brands such as Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford and Burberry will show alongside newer names such as Agi & Sam, Astrid Andersen and a debut collection from House of Holland. A third of the schedule is made up by brands less than five years old, while half of the designers exhibiting their spring/summer 2016 collections have studied at London fashion schools.

Now in its seventh season, the biannual event has become a major draw on the fashion industry calendar since it was set up by the British Fashion Council three years ago.

The menswear market is estimated to have contributed £12.9 billion to the UK economy last year — a growth of 18 per cent between 2008 and 2013.

Sales have grown almost five per cent in the past year as clothing retailers increasingly turn their attention to menswear. Dylan Jones, chairman of LCM and editor of GQ, said: “The benefits to the industry as a whole continue to be massive, which is great.”

Buyers and press from 39 countries are set to attend. With the four-day event garnering more international attention, LCM has recently added Chinese supermodel Hu Bing to its roster of ambassadors, joining David Gandy, Tinie Tempah, Nick Grimshaw and Dermot O’Leary.

Catwalk shows and collection presentations will be staged at The Hospital Club, the Old Sorting Office and Victoria House, with parties and evening events across the city. @littlewondering
