The sun may not the shining this autumn, but you don't need to worry about a lack of light because according to the catwalks (and several celebs) our clothes will be beaming.

Yes, that's right, neon hues are back and they're brighter than ever.

First debuted in the 80s, when florescent gym gear and rave attire reigned supreme, since then, the unmissable trend has dipped in and out of fashion. It made a prominent comeback in 2009, the year that saw us all don neon leggings and matching pumps for one cringe-worthy summer. And then, let's not forget the random neon beanie hat craze of 2013.

But, on the whole, neon brights have mostly been reserved for fancy dress parties and visibility clothing. That is, until now.

In line with the theory that trends come back around every ten years, hues of overpowering orange, hot pink, lime green and sunshine yellow have made a grand return.

Favoured on the womenswear 2018 catwalks of Jeremy Scott, Balenciaga, Gucci, Fenty x Puma and Prada, most recently too, neon was spotted on the menswear spring/summer 2019 catwalks of Louis Vuitton and Kenzo.

So, if you're wondering how you can inject a dash of neon into your autumn wardrobe, here are six A-list-approved ways:

1. Go Full-On Fluro

First off, you could go full Kardashian. Take inspo from Kim K safe in the knowledge it'll make you centre of attention.

The mum-of-three has been spotted in numerous head-turning neon ensembles in recent months, the first being a blinding orange sweater and matching cargo pants from Yeezy's upcoming collection.

And, like many Kardashian trends, the look caught on rather quickly - Blake Lively stepped out in a bright green Versace suit shortly afterwards.

2. Switch Up Your Evening Attire

Bored of wearing the same black dress for every black tie occasion? Now is your chance to shake things up a little... okay, a lot.

Sarah Paulson recently defied the colour spectrum when she stepped onto the Ocean's 8 red carpet wearing a fringed iridescent number by Prada.

That's one way to make a show-stopping entrance.

3. The Co-Ord

Kylie Jenner is also on-board with the trend, having captioned an Instagram snap of herself wearing a neon green Fendi set, "bright colors all summer long".

Much like her elder half-sister Kim K, the new mum has never shied away from sartorial boldness, and a lime green co-ord is certainly evidence of that.

4. Coordinate Your Nails

Bella Hadid sat front row at the Dior Homme spring/summer 2019 show in Paris wearing a dazzling yellow suit, which came straight off the runway.

Demonstrating that you can never go wrong with a tonal outfit, the model paired her suit with fluorescent yellow nail polish. The result? Pretty darn flawless.

5. Go For Gloves

In case you missed the memo, gloves are about to become the fashionista's go-to accessory. Yes, even in autumn before it gets really cold.

An array of neon over-the-elbow styles were seen on the 2018 catwalks, from Moschino to Chanel.

Rita Ora was one of the first celebs brave enough to trial the look at Capital's Summertime Ball; her head-to-toe Prada look featured a bright pink dress and striking yellow gloves.

And Virgil Abloh also recently made neon gloves a thing for men during his first Louis Vuitton show.

6. Get A Matching Car

Love neon A LOT? Go on, get a matching car...

Follow in the footsteps of Kim K, who has stepped out not once, not twice, but three times recently matching neon looks with different luxury rides. First, she subtly paired a lime green wig with a Lamborgini, which was followed by a neon two-piece with a massive Mercedes Benz.

Her final car-matching ensemble was seen at 2 Chainz wedding - however that pairing was very much outshone by Kanye West's small Yeezy Slides.

However you choose to wear it, ladies and gentlemen get those luminous shades at the ready: neon isn't going anywhere any time soon.
