New Look has today launched a range of 500 vegan shoes, bags, and accessories registered with The Vegan Society's Vegan Trademark.

Becoming the first high-street fashion retailer to register a vegan range with the Vegan Society, New Look is selling the products online from today, and will be rolling them out into more than 900 of its stores from September.

The collection includes shoes, boots, bags, and purses, all of which are clearly labelled and tagged with the Vegan Trademark, making it easy for shoppers to consume consciously.

The range has been thoroughly checked by The Vegan Society’s expert team to ensure all products are free from animal derived components, including any that might be found in fabrics, threads, glues, dyes and treatments. The brand has also taken steps to ensure that the manufacture of the product and its materials are free of animal testing.

New Look has also said it is committed to registering as many of its non-leather goods as possible with the prestigious trademark and is working towards changing components in both existing and upcoming lines to reduce its reliance on animal-derived ingredients.

“It’s a hugely positive step for New Look and sets a precedent within the wider fashion industry,” says The Vegan Society on its website. “At a time when customers are increasingly aware of how their clothes are made and what goes into them, it’s possible to achieve transparency in the supply chain and source alternatives to animal-derived ingredients, while keeping them affordable.”

New Look

As we all start to think more about shopping sustainably, it makes sense for New Look to embrace vegan alternatives. And with any luck, they’ll be the first but not the last to do so.

Which of our high-street heroes will be next to board the vegan train?

Prices for the New Look Vegan range from £3.99- £29.99. Shop the collection here
