Victoria's Secret Angel Romee Strijd on how to find the perfect bra

Who knows more about bras than a Victoria's Secret angel?

There are many questions a woman wants to ask a Victoria’s Secret Angel. What’s your exercise regime? Is there a secret to a good selfie? And, last but not least, how on earth do you find the perfect bra?

Let’s face it, bra shopping is tough. It’s an ongoing game of ‘guess your cup size’, keeping your fingers crossed that the underwires won’t dig in and hoping that the support lasts longer than lunchtime.

The struggle is real. It’s no surprise, then, that many women have only been fitted once in their life, leaving a staggering 80 per cent of us wearing the wrong bra size.

We caught up with Victoria’s Secret Angel Romee Strijd and bra fit expert Edita Solak to get all the tips and tricks on how to find the perfect bra. After all, who knows more about underwear than Victoria’s Secret?

When it comes to shopping for a new bra, the first thing you need to do is decide on a style. But, with endless options, from lacey to underwired, sporty to padded, the entire bra choosing process can leave you feeling slightly overwhelmed.

“I like lined bras, especially a T-shirt bra. They're super soft and fit really well,” says Romee, who made her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show debut in 2014, and was given Angel status in 2015.

As for getting the right fit, bra fit expert Edita gave us the lowdown on how to find the perfect size.

“First of all your band should feel quite snug because 80 per cent of the bra support comes actually from the band,” she advises.

“With the cup size, there shouldn't be any overflow or any gaping. Wires should never be sitting on top of your breast tissue… and the straps should always feel tight but you should be able to put a finger under your straps.”

“You should go [for a bra fitting] every six months because your body is changing so much,” says the Dutch model, who continues to spread her undie-wisdom by answering one of the many mysteries: how many bras should you wear in a week?

“I have three,” says Romee, “One to wear, one to wash and one to rest, because it’s really important to rest your bra to maintain elasticity.”
