There are many things I love about the festive season in London: Oxford Street’s Christmas lights and the return of the Pret-A-Manger Christmas sandwich. What really gets me excited, though, is the parties.

My season began with Tatler’s annual Little Black Book Party. Held at Annabel’s and hosted by Fran Cutler, it starred London’s shiniest: from rock royalty Amber Le Bon to super-cool jewellery designer Dominic Jones.

Then we were off: to Furla’s flagship store launch, where Pixie Geldof entertained us with her favourite tunes, and to the Winter Wonderland VIP opening, where models of the moment Cara D and Georgia May ran around like excited children, enjoying rollercoaster rides and snuggling up to Santa.

This was followed by the Tiffany & Co Christmas Store opening, which turned out to be the world’s most glamorous play-date when Jodie Kidd, Ben Fogle and Melissa Odabash all turned up with their children. Equally glamorous was the Reuben Foundation Ball (more diamonds than at Tiffany’s), which featured Princess Beatrice.

Isabella Blow’s Fashion Galore private view at Somerset House saw the fashion crowd come out in the most fabulous outfits, from Liberty Ross in a rainbow dress to Jasmine Guinness in an extravagant monochrome fur coat, while my darling friend, fashion designer Roland Mouret, impressed the ladies with his divine French accent.

Then came a Tory Burch dinner at Dartmouth House hosted by Vanity Fair’s social editor Elizabeth Saltzman. Gemma Arterton and Samantha Banks were among guests enjoying the mac ’n’ cheese and burgers.

Best of the season so far was Sushisamba’s birthday at the Heron Tower, where Sam Ronson and Nick Grimshaw took to the decks to entertain Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe, Mark Ronson and Mary Charteris.

With these crowds, the pressure is on to look hot, especially with photo booths popping up at every other do. At the office party, meanwhile, we have the chance to show colleagues how good we can look when we haven’t forgotten to brush our hair.

As a personal stylist, this is a busy time of year for me helping my clients — including Made in Chelsea’s Rosie Fortescue, entertainment reporter Poppy Jamie and music producers Misty Rabbit — prepare for their most anticipated events.

My tips? Accessorising is key. Invest in one well-fitting dress in which you feel elegant, sexy and comfortable enough that you’ll last till the early hours. Let the accessories do the rest.

Incorporate this season’s biggest trends: animal print, metallic, pink, and perspex bags. Make sure you have a coat that will go with every outfit — but don’t actually wear it, just casually place it over your shoulders.

Many of my clients work in the city, which leaves them no time before events, so I love the comeback of A-line skirts this season. Switch your white shirt for a bright, bold top and slip seamlessly from day to night. Finally, never leave the house without a bright lipstick: my personal favourite is Nars Red Square matte lip pencil which has all night staying power — just as you will, too.
