Topshop is no stranger to creating sell out items. But even the retailer couldn't have predicted the hype around a certain polka dot dress this summer.

In case you've forgotten, allow us to refresh your memory about one of 2018's hottest items. Topshop's £46 Mix Spot Ruched Midi Wrap Dress took Instagram by storm back in March, being the most-pictured dress throughout spring and continuing into the summer.

Due to popular demand, the versatile piece was restocked in May, just in time for a day at the races or a sun-drenched summer escape. But it didn't stay in stock for long.

In June, Topshop introduced a reverse black and white dotty number - the perfect excuse to carrying on wearing darker hues in the heatwave.

And, as many women found out, the pinafore silhouette was an extremely flattering and versatile number to have in your wardrobe. Paired with a tee for the day or strappy heels for the evening, it was a sartorial winner.

If you haven't managed to get your hands on the must-have number yet there's no need to fret, as Topshop has just released four new styles - and they're even more stylish than the last.

As we head into autumn, the popular polka dot print is going to be overtaken by a plethora of new patterns, most of which you can now get adorned on the flattering Topshop pinafore.

We predict the most popular new-in piece will be the sand coloured Zebra print.

Animal prints are already taking over the rails for the new season and things are only going to get wilder as the year goes on.

If you are looking for a trusty autumn staple, you can't get much better than the vibrant floral print dress.

Although big blooms for autumn aren't exactly groundbreaking, the frock has an '80s twist which means you'll definitely stand out from the crowd.

In addition to those two trendy numbers, the style is also available in a boho-inspired patchwork scarf print or, for those who tend to stay away from prints, a striking blue style with subtle jacquard finish.

The £55 dress is now also available in Topshop's petite and tall ranges.
