Any Valentino fans pottering around the Portobello this weekend might want to continue their mosey right up to Golborne Road. Here, Valentino has partnered with the vintage fashion emporium Rellik on a store takeover.

The much-loved Notting Hill treasure trove has on display some incredible pieces from the Valentino archive in Rome. There are also lots of lovely Valentino vintage pieces for sale.

If you own any vintage Valentino clothing you no longer wear, you can take it (up to three items) into Rellik. The owner Fiona Stuart will value your items and give you a voucher which you can then use to purchase something brand new in an official Valentino store - brava!

The Rellik takeover runs until Sunday (April 23), but even after the store returns to normal, Stuart will be offering the exchange for Valentino voucher service.

“I was so pleased to see how a luxury brand like Valentino is recognising the value of its vintage pieces and shedding light on the importance of circularity” says Stuart. “It was great for me to have the opportunity together with the Maison to re-explore the core values of the brand and the garments’ timeless style.”

This weekend’s pop-up is the second instalment of a global activation called Valentino Vintage, which first started with four stores worldwide and has this time grown to seven vintage stores in selected cities across the globe including Milan, Paris, London, Los Angeles, New York, Seoul, and Tokyo. In each region Valentino has partnered with a cult vintage store to offer the exchange service, allowing customers to swap their preloved Valentino garments for vouchers to buy a new design.

This time around the brand has also established an international creative partnership with 1 Granary, the training platform and incubator run by Central St Martens students, to explore archival fashion as a tool for future creativity.

The Italian fashion house has also donated a curated selection of five Valentino Vintage looks to seven selected schools in seven cities and to the community of 1 Granary, as a way of passing on craftsmanship and know-how, while also encouraging the students to discover the codes of the Maison’s artisanal craft and aesthetic universe.
