Madeleine Shaw, author of Get the Glow, is nutritionist to a slew of stars including former Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh. Ahead of her talk at BeFit London (May 1-3) on eating well as a lifestyle, Shaw shares her tips on how to make a super healthy bircher muesli at home.

"This Super Bircher is one of my favourite breakfasts to prepare the night before. I make it when I know I’m going to be running around the next morning but don’t want to miss out on having something healthy and filling to kickstart my day. It’s a super easy, ‘throw everything together’ recipe that you can really personalise not only to your taste, but to what you have in your kitchen. I soak my oats in Savse Super Orange to give it an exotic, fruity flavour and to help towards reaching my five-a-day. I’ve topped it off with lots of berries: blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, but you can add whatever fruit you’ve got left in the bowl. Starting your day with oats will keep you going until lunchtime and keep those pesky cravings at bay. Watch my video below to see how it's done."

Madeleine Shaw's recipe for Bircher Muesli

What you'll need

A grater

Chopping board

Bowl

Mixing Spoon

Knife

A jar to store and take to work the next day

Alll you need: the healthy ingredients for bircher muesli

Ingredients

200g of oats

250ml of Savse’s Super Orange

1 apple (to be grated)

1 vanilla pod

1 tsp of cinnamon

A pinch of fresh almonds to top

Fresh fruit – blueberries, strawberries and raspberries are perfect!

Optional – Fresh mint leaves, cacao nibs

Method

Pour the oats into a bowl and pour over the bottle of Super Orange, stirring together until the oats are all covered.

Grate the apple into the mixture, leaving the skin on to keep hold of all those nutrients

Slice open the vanilla pod, adding the vanilla to the mixture, followed by the desiccated coconut and cinnamon – give it a good stir and leave to soak overnight to enjoy the next day. The cinnamon will keep any sugar cravings at bay all morning, keeping you away from sugary snacks.

Add your fresh fruit to add natural sweetness and enjoy!
