Happiness Candle from NEOM, available now (£37.50, neomorganics.com)

What it does: ‘Happiness’ is the new uplifting spring/summer candle scent from NEOM Luxury Organics. For 2012, the brand has experimented with using an unique way of releasing scent from actual blades of grass, to create a unique, fresh green note which, when combined with essential oils of White Neroli, Mimosa and Lemon, creates an amazingly evocative, crisp spring garden scent and an aroma-therapeutic treatment to boost your mood.

What it actually does: Deciding it was time to move on from the world of Glade plug-in’s, I reached for the reassuringly natural-sounding new offering from NEOM. The high concentration of essential oils and the promise of ‘happiness’ was appealing and – seeing as my windows have remained firmly closed since last September – I was definitely ready for a more outdoors-y aroma. The scent delivered as a clean, crisp and refreshing scent, completely void of any burning undertone. But the real test was the following day, when I came home from work and the freshness was still lingering on. It’s sort of like having fresh flowers in your room. Lovely.
